ERC GRANTEE

As researchers, we’ve gotta get used to rejection and disappointment. But sometimes—just sometimes—everything clicks. That’s when we get the boost we need to keep doing what we love and do best: research. I was one of the lucky ones to receive an ERC Starting Grant 2024. A dream come true. A chance to establish my own research group at home. A huge boost.

VISIONSAFE is all about eye disease characterization. Over the next 5 years, with €1.5M in support from the European Research Council (ERC) (thank you!!), we’ll dive deep into the cornea, crystalline lens, and retina to improve the characterization of eye diseases. Through clinical imaging and laboratory experimentation, we aim to provide the ophthalmology community with new biomarkers for disease characterization.

If you're preparing for an ERC grant, don’t hesitate to contact me—I’ll be happy to help and share some tips. As a teaser, the green background in the picture is from my home office. That was my background during the interview—every detail counts (Didn’t use the orange sweater, though.)
