MAiCRO Academy – 1st edition
In 2023, we launched MAiCRO Academy, a scholarship program operating
under the umbrella of the MAiCRO research project dedicated to early detection
of anterior eye eye diseases. The initiative is tailored for students with
clinical and technical backgrounds, offering them a platform to kick-start
their research journeys.
Funded by the III SAMCA Multidisciplinary Innovation Prize, the program
supported five selected students: three undergraduates specializing in Optics
and Optometry, one undergraduate specializing in Electronic and Automatic
Engineering, and a master's student specializing in Biomedical Engineering.
Their research areas span corneal vibrometry, predictive models of eye
diseases, and myopia control.
A moment of collaboration and celebration occurred when mentors and students gathered to discuss their research progress. In the accompanying picture, professors Alejandra Consejo and Laura Remón stand alongside the accomplished students: Laura Mercader, Claudia Raufast, Alba Gutiérrez, María Romanos, and Ana R. Arizcuren, along with two postgraduate collaborators, Diana Gargallo, and Pilar Casado. Together, they represent the collaborative and innovative spirit of MAiCRO Academy, working towards advancements in the field of eye health.
